Welcome to the Guthrie Theater
We can’t wait for you to experience live theater and learn about the jobs that help make it happen!

A place where all are welcome
The Guthrie building was designed by a really famous architect named Jean Nouvel, who won a big prize for his work. He wanted the building to show the history of the neighborhood. He said, “The Guthrie is coming to settle in the historic golden rectangle near the falls, next to the old mills, in the industrial quarter that invented Minneapolis. Thus two histories, two legends, meet.”
You can visit the Guthrie anytime because it’s open all year. Inside, there are three cool stages where shows happen, places where they make the shows, classrooms, restaurants, and really awesome lobbies that look like scenes from a movie.

A Christmas Carol: The Story
“A Christmas Carol” is about this grumpy old guy named Ebenezer Scrooge who doesn’t like Christmas at all. He’s always grumbling and being mean to everyone. But one night, something magical happens – he gets visited by three ghosts! These ghosts show Scrooge his past, present, and future. He sees all the mistakes he’s made and how he can change to be a better person. By the end of the story, Scrooge becomes super nice, caring, and generous, spreading Christmas cheer to everyone around him. It’s a heartwarming tale that reminds us about the importance of kindness, love, and the joy of Christmas!
